Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy for abilitywars.wiki. Learn which cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how to control your preferences.

Last updated: June 28, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how abilitywars.wiki ("we," "us," or the "Site") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our Ability Wars fan wiki. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. By continuing to browse the Site after seeing our cookie notice (where displayed), you consent to non-essential cookies as described below, unless you adjust your preferences or browser settings.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences, keep sessions secure, and understand how visitors use pages. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and server-side tags that achieve comparable purposes.

Cookies can be "first-party" (set by abilitywars.wiki) or "third-party" (set by external services we integrate, such as analytics providers). They can also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or "persistent" cookies (remaining until they expire or you delete them).

2. Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies and related technologies to:

  • Ensure the Site loads correctly and securely over HTTPS
  • Remember language or display preferences when those features are enabled
  • Measure traffic and popular guide pages in aggregate
  • Detect abusive traffic patterns and protect against basic attacks
  • Store your cookie consent choice so we do not ask repeatedly

We do not use cookies to collect Roblox account credentials, and interactive tools such as the Punch Planner perform calculations in your browser without saving your Punch balance in cookies.

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for core Site functionality. Without them, pages may not render properly or security features may fail. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under many privacy laws because the Site cannot operate without them. Examples include load-balancer affinity cookies, CSRF protection tokens, and consent-banner state cookies that record whether you accepted or rejected optional tracking.

Functional Cookies

Functional cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience — such as collapsed navigation state, preferred locale when multiple languages are available, or theme preferences if offered. They are not essential but reduce friction on repeat visits. You may disable functional cookies through browser settings, though some convenience features may stop working.

Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site: which guides receive the most traffic, how users navigate between tier lists and tools, and whether error pages appear. Data is typically aggregated and anonymized or pseudonymized. We use analytics to prioritize guide updates after Ability Wars patches and to identify broken links. Analytics cookies are non-essential and, where legally required, are placed only after you grant consent.

Marketing Cookies

abilitywars.wiki does not currently run advertising networks or retargeting campaigns on the Site. If we introduce advertising partners in the future, this policy will be updated to list relevant marketing cookies and obtain consent where required. At present, you should not receive behavioral advertising cookies from us.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some pages embed third-party content that may set its own cookies when you interact with it. Examples include:

  • YouTube or other video players embedded in guide pages
  • Analytics services measuring page performance
  • Content delivery networks caching static assets

We do not control third-party cookies. When you play an embedded video or follow an external link to Roblox, Trello, or community script hosts, those providers govern their own cookie practices. Review their policies for details on opt-out mechanisms.

5. Cookie Duration

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period — commonly between thirty (30) days and thirteen (13) months for analytics, depending on the provider configuration. Consent preference cookies typically last six (6) to twelve (12) months so we remember your choice across visits.

6. How to Manage Cookies

You can control cookies in several ways:

  • Browser settings: Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete existing cookies. Consult your browser's help documentation for instructions.
  • Consent banner: Where displayed, use the Site's cookie banner to accept or reject non-essential categories.
  • Analytics opt-out: Some analytics vendors provide global opt-out browser extensions or settings pages listed in their documentation.
  • Do Not Track: The Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals because no industry standard is universally adopted. You may still block cookies via browser controls.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Site from functioning. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to read guides or use tools.

7. Local Storage and Similar APIs

In addition to cookies, the Site or its tools may use browser local storage to cache data temporarily on your device. For example, client-side scripts may store UI state between interactions within a single session. Local storage data is not automatically transmitted to our servers unless a feature explicitly sends it — and our calculators are designed to process inputs locally without server uploads.

8. Updates to Games and Wiki Content

When Ability Wars receives major updates, traffic patterns to specific guides change. Analytics cookies help us notice surges to pages like codes status, new abilities, or patch notes so we can refresh content faster. This operational benefit does not involve selling data or profiling individual players' in-game behavior — only aggregated website visit statistics.

9. Legal Bases (EEA / UK Visitors)

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing cookie-related personal data include: (a) consent for non-essential cookies where required; (b) legitimate interests in securing and improving the Site for essential and analytics cookies where consent is not mandated; and (c) compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

10. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add features, change analytics providers, or respond to legal requirements. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be posted on this page and, when appropriate, signaled through the Site cookie banner or homepage notice.

11. Contact

Questions about cookies or this policy may be directed through the contact method in the Site footer. For broader data protection inquiries, see our Privacy Policy.
